Single Estate Rums Born of Rich Volcanic Terroir

Unique Volcanic Terroir

San Cristobal’s unique tropical volcanic terroir provides the perfect environs for growing and aging rum. The fertile volcanic terrain provides mineral-rich soil and water, and a unique tropical climate that is instrumental in forging
exceptionally smooth rums of deeply nuanced flavor.

Pacific Ring of Fire

Around 2/3 of Earth’s volcanoes – more than 750 of them – are located along the Ring of Fire – a tectonic belt that has existed for over 35 million years and is responsible for dramatic seismic events and eruptions caused by its plate
movement. San Cristobal, Nicaragua’s highest active volcano, sits along this geologic wonder, just miles from the Pacific Ocean, and is home to Flor de Caña’s single estate sugar cane fields, distillery and aging warehouses.

Aged in Bourbon Barrels

We age all our rums, some as old as 30 years, in bourbon barrels hand-assembled at our own cooperage. During the aging process, the high volcanic temperatures cause an intensely dynamic interaction between the barrel and the rum, resulting in Flor de Caña’s distinctive flavor notes and exquisitely smooth finish.

No Additives or Artificial Ingredients

We let our rums age naturally without any artificial ingredients, letting the natural flavors of the aged rum and the barrel shine through. In fact, after the distillation process no trace of sugar is left in any of our expressions.
